Presentation Description:  The power of schools to transform educational delivery begins with quality, research-based standards.  This vital component of the AdvancED accreditation process has been updated and incorporates the latest research findings in order to drive knowledge acquisition, processes, and relationships.  From purpose and direction to leading and learning, this session will provide insight into the new generation of AdvancED Standards.  These standards will be in effect for schools in Latin American beginning in the fall of 2012.

Presenter Bio:

Vicki Denmark is the Vice-President for Education Innovation with AdvancED, a position she has held since July 2010. In this position, she is responsible for leading school improvement projects and creating resources that schools can use to affect student learning.  
Dr. Denmark’s educational career spans over 30 years devoted to working in public school systems in Georgia. She served as an elementary classroom teacher, an assistant principal, a middle school principal, an area superintendent, and an assistant superintendent in metro Atlanta. She also worked as an assistant professor at Georgia State University and taught and developed post graduate courses in the areas of curriculum, supervision, organizational behavior, and educational leadership.
Dr. Denmark is active in the middle level education movement; she served six years as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Association for Middle Level Education and ten years as an Executive Board for the Georgia Middle School Association. She co-authored a practitioner’s book on mentoring beginning teachers, presented at international, national and state conferences, and published in several research journals.
She holds a master’s degree in elementary education, and a doctorate degree in Educational Policy Studies.
